5 ways to beat autumn breakouts
The changing of the seasons can wreak havoc on even the best behaved skin, and the transition from summer to autumn is no exception.
In fact, this time of year is notorious for causing blemishes and breakouts! This is because our skin is still in ‘summer mode’ with sebum production in full flow, but the introduction of cooler weather causes it to dry out and form dead skin cells.
These dead cells then become trapped under the skin’s surface by the excess oil, leading to clogged pores and nasty breakouts…a real recipe for disaster!
But it’s not all doom and gloom - there are some simple yet effective ways you can help beat those pesky autumn breakouts.

1) Switch up your skincare
Changes in the environment have a big impact on our skin, and so what was best for your skin in the summer won’t be as effective in the autumn.
To combat the excess sebum, it’s important to give your pores a thorough, deep cleanse morning and night to remove any build up.
Try and give your skin a good buff every couple of days too with a gentle exfoliator to help remove any surface debris, encourage skin cell renewal and encourage brighter, smoother skin. Drink lots of water throughout the day to ensure your body is hydrated. Our skin is a reflection of how are bodies are feeling inside, so if your skin feels tight, flaky and dry, it’s a sign you’re in need of some fluids!
The taste of water can be monotonous, so try adding a few slices of lemon and lime for a tangy twist and an extra boost in vitamin C and antioxidants. Other great combinations are cucumber and mint, and strawberry and basil!
3) Call in the experts
The summer really puts our skin through its paces, so treat it to some TLC and indulge in a sumptuous facial.
